Preventive Care
It is recommended that we visit dentist at least every six months to maintain the health of your smile. During this visit, we will perform a series of examinations, including X-rays, oral cancer screening, gum disease screening. We will be able to catch oral disease, such as decay and restore it at earlier stage.
Hygiene: we all brush our teeth at home, however, even with someone who is doing great job at brushing and flossing, getting a dental cleaning is still strongly recommended at least every 6 months for someone who has healthy oral hygiene, it helps to ward off many mouth problems, like cavities, gum disease, both can result in pain and tooth loss. It is a cleaning above the gum line, using hand or ultrasonic instruments, Home cares will be discussed at the visit to prevent gum disease, this means brushing at least twice a day with soft bristled tooth brushed held at 45 degree angle, and floss at least once a day.
Sealants: Brushing and flossing are the best ways to prevent cavities. However, it might be difficult to clean some deep grooves of your tooth, especially the back ones. Sealants is used for the back teeth to help to prevent the cavities, it is a thin coating that covers the deeps grooves and prevents the bacteria from hiding there. Study have showed that sealants help to reduce the risk of decays of about 80%.
Fluoride: is a type of mineral that makes the enamel more resistant to acidic diet therefore helps to reduce the cavity.
